Martin Luther King, Jr

— January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968 —

Dr. James Dwyer has written a short essay on the impact of Dr. Marin Luther King, Jr., on his own development. You can download it in PDF format here.

Every Christian and every American needs to be aware of the issues —still extremely current — which Dr. King addressed in his famous Riverside Church speech "Beyoond Vietnam", found under this link, in 1967, excactly one year to the day before his assassination 50 years ago. Listening to this 50+ minute-long audio recording with scrolling text, I (Jim Dwyer) remember with regret the many opportuniti8es we as Christians and Americans have missed to move beyond the militarism King portrayis to a policy which supports the dignitiy of all persons among all peoples of the world. Is it too late? Is resistance futile?
